PROTO4: I was there too...

It was a tiring day for me at IIT Delhi where I had a chance to see the India's upcoming Entrepreneurs who had been sweating off late to get themselves established to this open ended world. It all started with an inaugural keynote by Mr Kiran Karnik in which he emphasized some of the key areas which need to be looked into before going for an adventurous venture. He pointed 3 main key factors of Funding, Networking and Mentoring that one should consider and lay emphasis on.

A very useful and a healthy discussion that started proto4 in style. The charisma he brought into the hall was mind blowing. A simple person who having years and years of experience behind him and telling about the basics one should never forget while going out for a venture was simply amazing.

The discussion was soon followed by another presentation by Mr. Murugavel Janakiraman , Founder and CEO of Bharat Matrimonial who guided us through the path that he followed in starting with a small group of user base ending up in what is known to be the leading matrimonial site in India with a user base of close to 4 million and running the portal in 10 odd languages. Another great archiver who not only evolved in his domain but came out to be the leader in it. He gave important tips on the services sector, and the innovations one need to do from time to time to survive in this competitive world. Hats off man!!!!!!!

This soon was followed by another presentation by Mr Bhavin Turakhia , Founder and CEO of Directi. Man this guy was amazing, full of energy, enthusiastic and influential and the one who knew his stuff to the fullest. I came to know about him for the first time. He presented his own vision of what a business is all about.

The presentation started with a tag line "Business is like a game" . Now who the hell would believe that Business is a game, atleast I will not, but after his presentation I realized that it is indeed a game only if played in a correct way and with a correct goal with correct players.

The two most important aspects for the success of every business drills down to the following points
1. Gather the right players.
2. And enable them to take the right decisions most of the time.

Pretty much elaborative i guess. But if u analyze it u yourself would feel that they are indeed the only two factors that contribute to the major portion of the success.

He gave his seven Principle for the so called "GAME"

Principle 1 - Teach the game.
Principle 2 - Share the macro vision.
Principle 3 - Work for the near term targets and milestones.
Principle 4 - KEEP SCORES
Principle 5 - Define a well defined Line of sight.
Principle 6 - Celebrate your victories.
Principle 7 - Align everyone's interest.

Wooooooopppppp ..... Memorised them by heart, Just try and think over them and the answer is there in them.

Looking forward to play the game on these principles.

Then there was a by Mr Sameer Guglani , who talked about getting the products to the right consumers and making them love the products.

Mahesh Murthy
, Managing Partner at Seedfund, another great person with an amazing histroy was addressed us on the various strategies one should follow while Marketing a product. "Correct Pricing" of the product while bringing it to the market is the essential factor that determines the success of the product. It was more of a discussion session with people asking him questions that touched nearly all the domains of a business. He was then joined by Kiruba Shankar who discussed on why people blog and what all people have gained through blogging and should one actually blog or if yes then what should be blogged.

It was more a mentoring session for me as I being a lazy chap would not have blogged in years to come. But guyz here i m writing this blog, this being just the outcome what I learned from the amazing and influential people. Thanks again to all of them for showing me a direction. Would just pray that my laziness does not hold me back from blogging.

Another amazing presentation by Mr Amit Ranjan , Co Founder Slide Share, on the virality over the web. I learned about a new term Viral Coefficient and how it is another most important aspect to determine the success of a business.
I signed up for Slide share today and added 961 accounts to it from my gmail id thus increasing its viral coefficient by 0.01 I guess :). Amit u owe me one for this man !!!!!!!

Then there was a sudden change in the schedule I guess. We had a speaker who had these patches of white and black hairs on his head and beard came to the party. After a few minutes of his briefing about himself I came to know that he was actually a film director and a story writer.
Mr Shashanka Ghosh
, director of feature films (Waisa Bhi Hota hai) who is coming up with what seemed to be an amazing comedy Quick Gun Murugun . A cheer was their in the crowd seeing his venture.

The final presentation was by Mr Gaurav Bhatnagar , Founder and CEO Tekriti, who told us about what actually a startup business requires is not the greatest of Idea but it requires grabbing the correct opportunity at the right time. He told us about how his venture was actually started with they getting into an entirely new technology and developing "SOMETHING" out of it that "DOES SOMETHING". Another great presentation that actually might have helped a lot of those people who have vision and are building over it and yet to take a flight into this zone of successful startups. hats off guyz , u really have helped a lot of people today.

Feeling zzzzzZZZZzzzz guys after this hectic day. Would take your leave now and will join the PROTO.IN tomorrow at 9:00 pm sharp.

One Fine Knock

Ever heard of a saying "Cricket is religion in India". I have, and will continue to do so as long as we have IPL (huuhh.). Not sure whats the reason for this reaction but yeah watching your favourites from close to 100 m distance and watching them via satellite are altogether two different experiences.

30th April 2008, Delhi Daredevils Vs Royal Challengers(Bangalooorruuu). An exciting encounter between the Sultan of Multan and apna The Wall.

Starting off from office with enthusiasm of watching a live cricket match in the stadium for the first time. Me, Vishnu and Vineet started our journey. Reaching the stadium 30 mins before the scheduled start we were very eager to get into the stands.

After all hustle and bustle, lathis and dandas we finally reached Tier 2 stand where we luckily got 3 seats just perpendicular to the pitch. 7:45 in the evening and the ground looked awesome from there. Lush green fields with a white pitch. My my that was too good to watch, a wave of adrenaline rushed through my veins.

I wished i could bat for one over from the pavilion end of the bowling of McGrath. Hitting him for a couple of sixes over long on and the cheer girls dancing on each shot and finally at the end of the over a long Hug from my dreams sweet heart Katerina Kaif. Wow... amazing , It usually happens with e, My brain starts to work for my fantasies only once I see things from a 100 m distance (can range from 1 m to 200 m:)).

Finally I got out of my dreams and saw the crowd cheering for Sehwag and Dhawan(The next sensation in Indian Team). The match begin and suddenly we heard of a loud sound (bomb blast was my first call, but then we found that we a bunch of vella people were the lucky ones to see Sehwag hit those two sixes as there was some technical problem coz of which the match was not telecasted on TV for 6 overs. Cheering, clapping, dancing, singing, hooting whistling were the only few things that people were busy with. I called up my friends for the scores. thanks to the Groud staff that were busy in watching those chicks and not updating the score board.

Delhi finishing on a promising score and ensuring that they could win despite of the fact that they had some wonderfool bowlers. The Royal challengers started there journey with Jaffer opening. And we saw some great bowling by our very own Mc Grath whose spell of 4 overs made us spell bound. A very exciting thing happened during Royals chase, I saw Dravid hit a long six. Ahaaaaa..... it took him almost a decade to hit that big. Finally he decided to go for it. A fine knock by the captain.

I never ever doubted Bouchers capabilities. He is one such player who can win matches single handedly, be it anything, a 72 run chase of 2 overs or a six of last ball , he will do that for u. But this was not his day... a poor decision to send him down the order costed Royals the match. Had he been 3 overs before on the ground, the Royals would have beaten the Delhities by 3 balls to spare ( Ho jaye 100-100 ki?)
. But thanks to some great think tanks in the Bengaloorus team that it all ended in what we call a marvelous victory for Delhi Daredevils.

Living A Second Life....

Crazy crazy crazy crazy.... this is what comes to my mind when i think of that moment. I lost that almost.

Having said that it was crazy thing to happen with a crazy fellow like me, all that happened was in no sense a sensible thing.

We will start sharp at 12 for the trip was our Admins call who has worked really hard for a month to make preparations for what ought to be my first outdoor trip with my company lads.

Have only heard of the adventure sports in years and was very much excited about my first opportunity to participate in one of them, we(a bunch of 70 odd people, buddhe bachche aur jawaan as I would say in Hinglish.) started for our trip to RishiKesh for activities like water rafting, trekking, rock climbing and what not in a span of nearly two days.

Sharp 1:30 (Indian Stretchable time) is what we started from the office. Aha.. the mail said that bachelors in Bus Number 3 please. As we entered in the bus Dhruv(another lazy creature of his own kind ) opened the lid of the ice box which was expected to have atleast 90 beer cans for 18 people to survive for five hours journey by bus with no chicks around(Mind u its tougher to be a bachelor boy without a chick)

And to Dhruv's surprise there were only 18 beer cans. Not sufficient for atleast one session of unloading and loading. But this gentleman took out a beer can for himself and sat in the conductors seat to make sure that he gets a second can once he finishes the first one :)

And now the journey begins with all non drinkers living on Juices and snacks and all the drinkers, gentleman like Dhruv surviving on those beer cans. So after a round of beer and juices the so called Lukha bachelors stared with dumb C. Ahahha... Ahsan bhai ... u r the only one who could have done this.

With movies like "Khalnayak" to "haquequat" to "Paap ko jala kar rakh kar dunga " to "Kama Sutra" to "Daastaanein Chamiya II" it ended in what we call a full censored bachelors party.

Stopping the bus in the middle for the unloading sessions and stealing the beers from other buses we finally reached the Snow Leapord Beach Area at 11. Teg Bahadur(TB) was our instructor. Another piece of his own kind who would use "A" and "The" as regularly as we breathe. With 70 people around the bonfire he instructed us on how do we ask out tent partner to help us go to loo, a Km away from our tent. Gosh!!!! it required an hour planning before we finally decide that we will be going for that project(Aha to the Loo).

Feeling zzzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZ... will continue with it tomorrow

Writing my first blog so u need to beer (ohho bear) with this.
